The House of Fiscal Wisdom is Africa’s first fiscal think tank with a bold 100-year vision to transform global financial systems. Rooted in the principles of fiscal legitimacy and the social contract, HFW reimagines fiscal governance as a vehicle to raise living standards, promote economic justice, and build self-sufficient societies. Guided by our Eight Pillars—accountability, transparency, responsibility, efficiency, effectiveness, fairness, justice, and inclusion—we advance fiscal thinking that transcends borders and reshapes the foundations of economic systems.
Central to the House of Fiscal Wisdom’s mission are three interrelated working groups, each contributing to a cohesive vision of fiscal transformation. Together, they address the critical intersections of environmental sustainability, digitalisation and Islamic/alternative finance, forming the pillars of HFW’s strategy to redefine and reshape global fiscal governance.

At the heart of HFW’s mission lies the Commission on Financing Development, a seminal entity of visionary thinkers dedicated to reimagining fiscal governance and crafting a transformative global fiscal architecture. The three working groups will inform the commissions scope of work. The commission is a crucible of innovation, shaping bold ideas and frameworks to address the challenges of the present and the future while steering the world toward a more equitable and sustainable economic and fiscal order. HFW provides an unparalleled intellectual space to rethink fiscal paradigms, integrate diverse perspectives, and create a new blueprint for global financial systems that prioritise economic justice and sustainable development.
